If it's been a while since you last thought about Uruguay, here's a quick look.
Picture

Situated on the south eastern side of South America, this fairly small country has a population of 3,5 million people. It has borders to Brazil in the north east and Argentina in the south west. It's the second smallest country in South America after Suriname.

It's the forth largest producer of wine in South America with about 67.000 tonns of wine yearly.

They are mostly known for their red wines made from the characteristic Tannat grape, but lately white's produced on the Albarino grape are beginning to receive attention internationally.

Prices are very decent and flavours b old and bright. A cool wine country to watch out for.
Our wine of the week comes from Bodega Garzon. Recognised as the number one winery from the New World in 2018. They run a fantastic operation focusing in sustainability and terroir. It's a modern type winery, where innovative techniques are crossed with years of history.

Tasting notes

Garzon Tannat Reserva 2018 - 199kr

Deep blue colour.
Exiting and lovely smells of oriental spices such as Sichuan pepper and cloves. Also notes of flowers such as viols and raw meat.
Powerful and elegant in the mouth, with lots of dark fruit, spices and herbs. Present tannins, but nicely integrated. Impressive to be this bold and rich, but to have elegance at the same time.
This is a lot of wine for the money.

With Food
This will be a mach made in heaven with a traditional steak dinner. The tannins have power enough to handle the good old entrecôte, but are elegant enough to also go with leaner meats such as veal or lamb.

Try storing ab bottle for 2-3 years. Will be interesting 😊
