Wine of the week: Family secrets from New Zealand

In my eternal quest to find white wines with butter-toast notes, I stumbled across this beauty from New Zealand.
A single vineyard Chardonnay, spontaneous fermented in both new and old oak barrels, and some steel tanks as well.
The Babich Family is New Zealands most experienced winemakers, founded all the way back in 1895. Their focus is on easy drinking wines, which applies well to our wine of the week.

Tasting notes

Picture
Babich Family Estate Organic Chardonnay 2017 - 219kr

Medium deep yellow colour.
Smell of ripe yellow fruits, such as apples and plums. Nice notes of toasted bread and fresh butter. Hints of burnt wood and oriental spices.

Rich and juicy flavours going in the tropical and herbal direction. Good taste of roasted nuts and oak.

Food
Very easy drinking wine that will pair nicely with chicken and turkey dishes. It will also be great with grilled vegetables and hearty salads.

It will develop some for 3-4 years, if you wanna try storing it.
