A great ting about autumn is all the good food that we indulge ourselves at this time of the year. Lamb, mushrooms and super apples are something we in Norway particularly fond of at this time of the year and this weeks wine is great with lamb. One of the first regions I fell in love with whenit comes to wine was the Tuscan Vino Nobile the Montepulciano. One thing was the name, it just sounded great! But also liked the fresh, firm and cherry-like flavours and one of the best producers was Avignonesi. Since 2009 Virginie Saverys have run this great wine house and has worked hard to bring ecological priciples to the vineyards, where the ultimate goal is to start producing biodynamical soon. The terroir is mostly clay, sand, silt and limestone. he plants are between 10 and 40 years old and give a beautiful rubyred wine. Tasting notes:Avignonesi Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2015 - 289,90 kr A wine that brings back such great memories. The colour surprises me a little. It's transparent and not as dark as I would have expected from a 100 % Sangiovese. Cherry, Leather and forrest floor on the nose. Lovely acidity and soft tannins as always from Tuscany. Very rich and full. Cherry dominates in the mouth with hints of butcher's, herbs and mushrooms. A superb wine with food. Try it with lamb!
