The warm weather keeps on coming and in we are having a summer for the ages. In the heat we need to cool down, so the wine of the week is my favourite Cava!
There is nothing I don’t like about Funambul. I love the name, Funambul, it easy to say and to remember. I love that it means tightrope walker, someone who has to have the right balance all the time or else. Balance, perhaps the most important thing in a wine. I love the elegant and cool label with the small bird perched on the lines running across like the lines on a music score. But most of all I love the wine makers Maria, Fernando and Dani who strive to make the best wines possible always with a friendly and inviting smile to go with their wines.
We were lucky enough to experience their hospitality when we made a story on their Cava in 2016. There happened to be a birthday party on the day we were there, and we were invited to the best Paella I have ever had, along with generous amounts of Cava. It was a night to remember that’s for sure.
Smells of ocean, lime and baked buns. Great structure and bubbles. The minerality is so, so present in the mouth along with hints of lime.
This is a fine cava for food, Paella like I said, or some classic Spanish Tapas. Or just enjoy it cold in a glass on one of these hot summer days.
