This is one of the coolest bottles I’ve tasted in a while, and a bargain like no other. Tasmania, an island south of Melbourne in Australia, is as exotic as it gets. Best known for brilliant produce and original fauna featuring the Tasmanian devil himself, also makes exciting wines. It barely produces 1% of Australia’s wines, but the potential for greatness is sky high.

The climate is cooler than on the mainland and the clay soil plays well with the grape varieties on the island.
Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc really thrive here, and with global warming the conditions have become more and more favourable. Tasmania is home to about 200 wineries, and our chosen one is called Devils Corner. Situated far away from everything on the east coast, the iconic winery makes award winning wines, at really good prices.

Tasting Notes

Devil's Corner Tasmania Chardonnay 2021 - 264kr

Light yellow colour.
Intriguing nose with nectarines, apricots, warm stones, oak and some smoke.
Delicate in the mouth with a rich palette of ripe oranges, lemons, nectarines and buttery oak. Very juicy and fresh wine, with a near perfectly balanced acidity and a long lingering after taste. Lot of wine for the price.

With Food
Killer wine with salmon dishes and ripe Camembert cheese. Will also be great with crab and creamy chicken dishes.
