Wine of the week

The 2016 vintage from Bordeaux has an official rating of 10/10. Thats rare. It's a unique vintage in many ways, producing wines that both drink well young and some that need 30 years + in the cellar.

Renovned wine shop BBR - Berry Bros & Rudd in London starts by saying:

"The 2016 Bordeaux vintage is one of the most unique and exciting vintages in recent memory. From the barrel samples we tasted, the takeaway is that the wines possess elegance, glorious ripe red fruit, silky tannins, lower alcohol than in previous years and vitality. The energy of these wines is their selling point, with many displaying a pleasing freshness which will delight lovers of traditional Claret. "

Our wine of the week is one of those bottels who drink very well now, but can also be stored for years to come. It gives you an idea of what potential this vintage has.

Tasting notes

Picture
Chateau Lalaudey 2016 - 232kr

Bright burgundy red colour, with a light brown edge.

Intense smell of dark berries, wool and liquorice. Rich, sweet and amusing on the nose.

Flavours of young berries such as cherries, black currants and liquorice. Elegant and smooth wine with moderate tannins and great length.
Less tannins than you would expect from a young Bordeaux like this.

With food
Will be excellent with Italian dishes like a classic Bolognese or a ragu.

Storing
Such great fruit in this bottle that it will be great for long storage. Try in 2026.
