It's June 1st and officially first day of summer 2017. Park season is upon us!
Green lungs all over fill up with happy people, just enjoying life. But what wine do you bring to the park..? What makes for a good park wine? We've taken the task and these beauties will be amazing company.

The rules

Taking this task seriously, we had to set some rules... what wines should be considered?

  • Light & Fresh. Since parks, on a large scale, are enjoyed on sunny days, we've focused on white, rosé and bubbly drops. So no reds even came close to consideration.
  • Lower end alcohol. Park days often start early, so wines that held alco percent in the lower regions were preferred.
  • The cork. We know that many of you go for bottles with screw cap, when bringing stuff to a park. So we've tried, but in all fairness: a bottle opener is tiny... ;)
  • Flavours should match the surroundings they are enjoyed in. So bottles reflecting this are better than the ones who don't.
  • Price. For some reason, we do not wanna bring expensive bottles to a park. Often enjoyed in plastic cups, it's understandable.
  • Serving temperature. Most of us don't bring cooling systems to parks, so the wine should be able to handle a bit of temperature.

With this in mind, we've selected six nice bottles for your consideration. Here are the tasting notes.

Tasting notes

Craven Clairette Blanche 2016 - 239kr

Light straw yellow. A bit unclear from not being filtered. Light smell of flowers and young yellow fruits. Hints of wet rocks and apricots.
Quite mellow in the mouth, with pleasant yellow fruits, Norwegian apples and almonds. Delicate feeling and quite long aftertaste. Would go well with a salad, grilled chicken or cured hams like a Serrano. Holds 11% alcohol.

Meinklang Grüner Veltliner 2016 - 149kr

Deep yellow, clear and beautiful in the glass. Smell of gras and spring leafs. Hints of lemons.
Super nice in the mouth. Slim in style. Flavours of light red berries and ripe melons. There is some exiting spice there as well. Medium in length, with a crisp and clear finish. A dry and elegant baby.
This is a drinking wine par excellence. It will handle salads and go excellent with vegetarian dishes, without diary products. It's ripe enough in style to also handle poultry and white fish, but to me this is a vegetable wine :) Holds 11% alcohol.

Meinklang is a fantastic producer and easy to remember as all their bottles feature the image og a cow. They are nicely priced and quality is all over very good. Look for the cow!

Equilibri Natural Funambul Brut Nature - 154kr

Light yellow colour.
Smell of fresh red grapefruits, flowers and lime. Hint of baked goods.
Nice medium sized bubbles. Flavours of lime, lemon and yellow fruits. Hints of mums home made bread with fresh butter.
Very fresh and tidy mouthfeel. The cava has a fine balance between acidity and fruit flavours. Good length, with a tight performance; like a ballerina.

Meinklang Prosa 2016 - 165kr

Beautiful light vibrant red colour. Fresh smell of raspberries and wild strawberries. Hints of young and acidic currants.
Super fresh in the mouth, with tiny tiny bubbles tickling your tongue. Delicious flavours of currants, rhubarb and raspberries. Dry and firm after feeling, with lingering flavours of red berries running down your throat.
This is first and foremost great for drinking alone or as an aperitif. But then again, who has an apertif in a park... :)
It could handle crabs for instance or light fish dishes. Holds 10,5% alcohol.

Another fantastic wine from "The Cow"!

Brocard Sainte Claire Chablis 2015 - 209kr

Light golden yellow, classic Chablis colour. Immediate and delicate smell of lime, lemons, roasted nuts, fresh butter and a hint of oak wood. Some tones of grapefruit is also dancing around.
Rich, creamy and super classy in the mouth. Flavours of lime, wet stones, and butter biscuits.
Long and very pleasant aftertaste, with a finish that just lasts and lasts.

Chablis is somewhat of a Norwegian classic. We're the country in the world who drink the most Chablis, comparing number of inhabitants. It's fantastic with most seafood, but hit it with a mouthful of shellfish, grilled cod or sea bass in a butter sauce, and you're in for a match made in France ;)

Biokult Pet Nat 2016 - 149kr

Deep orange, sunset in colour. Tiny bubbles reveal themselves, as you pour it. Notes of red berries and honey melons. Hints of butter biscuits and flowers on a spring day.
Flavours of french herbs and light red berries. Elegant wine with fun small bubbles having a party in your mouth. The elegance of this wine is quite amazing. It would go well with the park classic: grilled hot dogs in bunns. Holds 10,5% alcohol.
