South of the city of Bordeaux, in the beautiful Pessac-Léognan appellation, you'll find Domaine De Chevalier. One of the true classic producers in Bordeaux.
Picture
The estate has roots all the way back to the 18th century and wine has been produced on the property since early 19th century. It's all you want from a classic Bordeaux producer. A classic mix of grapes, robust and elegant style and consistency in quality. Wine from Domaine De Chevalier is always good. The estate produces both red and white wines. These are named after the property and called Domaine De Chevalier. They are quite pricy and range from 700 to 2000kr depending on the vintage.
But the real scoop here is their second wine. Most of the great Chateau's in Bordeaux produce a so called "second wine". They are often blended with grapes from younger vineyards, waiting to reach the potential for the number one wine. But they are still great grapes. And the second wine of a top Domaine or Chateau, is always a very high quality wine. It's made by the same winemakers, using the same methods and techniques as in the top wine. It's just way better priced :)
Trying "L'Esprit De Chevalier" is a high end wine experience, at a fraction of the cost.

Tasting notes

L'Esprit De Chevalier Rouge 2017 - 349kr

Deep brilliant red colour.
Lovely aromas of ripe red plums, liquorice, crushed red berries, boat shed, autumn forrest and chopped fresh kitchen herbs.
Round and delicate in the mouth, with red berries, liquorice and juicy ripes plums. Nicely integrated oak and very good length.
A very enjoyable drinking experience.

With food
Get you're steaks out. This wine will be fantastic with a classic entrecôte, but also lamb and light game dishes.

A lot of wine for the price. Value for money.
