We are great fans of the wines coming from the Catena Zapata family in Argentina. Last week we bought you perfect match for the annual "Skrei" season. This week we've selected another cuvée, which is one of my top end go-to-wines from the New World.

As the winemaker perfectly say it: "This "single vineyard" wine is a faithful expression of Mendoza's highest altitude microclimate. Warm, sunny days and cool nights allow the chardonnay grapes grown at the foot of the Cordón del Plata mountain range to achieve excellent balance and maturity."

They use 100% French Oak (40% new) and the Chardonnay spends 14 months in the barrels. This gives the wine a bold and punchy presence, but with beauty and elegance as well.

It's a wine perfect for drinking now, or you could cellar it for a more complex and deep flavour. It will develop well over the next 5-6 years.

Tasting Notes

Angelica Zapata Chardonnay 2019 - 289kr

Intense golden yellow colour.
Very aromatic nose, with butter, crackers, ripe citrus, oak and smoke. Nice silky texture in the mouth with good citrus flavours, apples, butter and some toasted wood. A full-bodied wine with great acidity, good concentration and a long pleasant finish.

With Food
It will handle most white fish dishes, but try it with roasted pork neck, pork chops and gravy, or a rotisserie chicken.
