Our national day is upon us and we are gearing up for a day of parades, happy children and good food. Hopefully we’ll all drink with responsibility and take care of those around us. With the 17th usually the smorgasbord is out and there is a lot to choose from. Everything can be difficult to pair with wine so we suggest you go safe and this week’s wine will fit most of what you are served. As the reader of this blog will know, English wines have had a surge recent years. It started with great sparkling wines, but now the still wines are coming and they are just as good. We are headed to Kent this week and the winery that has been voted best vineyard to visit, Balfour. The Balfour Skye Chardonnay has been made from vineyards planted specifically for the creation of English Chardonnay. The wine is made from Burgundy clones planted on Middle Strackney Wood and Old Eight Acre, the two warmest Chardonnay Vineyards that are pick last to maximise phenolic ripeness. Tasting notes:Balfour Skye's Chardonnay 2022 298,90 kr Lovely nose with white blossom, thyme and fresh lemons. A clean citrus-driven palate with notes of lime and melon rind. A delightful, aromatic and complex Chardonnay. Will pair excellently with salads and sandwiches, white fish and shellfish.
