We’re heading as far north in Italy as you can get. The area is called Trento-Süd-Tirol and sits on the boarder to Austria.
We rarely write about cooperatives, but this one we’ve talked about a few times before. «Cantina Terlan» was founded back in 1893 by 24 farmers seeking to join forces. It’s been a quality operation since, still making great wines. The area is blessed with a nice micro climate that is created with the help of two key factors. The Alps are protecting the growing vines from cold Atlantic gust’s, and they are still benefiting from the warm Mediterranean winds from the south. This gives way for ripe and elegant wines. And our pick is such; their Pinot Noir Tradition.
Hand harvested grapes, de stemmed and slowly fermented in steel tanks. Gentle bâtonnage and 10 months in old French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes

Cantina Terlano Pinot Noir 2021 - 260kr

Light and delicate red colour.
Aromas of wild strawberries, some licorice and autumn forest.
Lovely in the mouth with ripe red fruits and some earthy notes. Good concentration, nice acidity and long aftertaste.

With food
This will be lovely with the seasonal lamb dishes or try with some flavorful chicken dishes. Maybe a cassoulet with chicken, veggies, stock and wine?
