Wine of the week

Our wines of the week comes from Argentina, where they have spent years the cellar before shipping out to the world. This makes for a great opportunity.
At a very affordable price you get to try fairly old wines and explore singel varieties from a great winemaker. And what better time to try this, than Christmas.
Pop a few bottles and taste what ageing does to a wine, and how different the famous Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes really taste. It's quite fun and even better when tasting together.

These are available in several stores around the country.

Tasting notes

Picture
Weinert Merlot 2007 - 229kr

Red brick stone colour with a brown edge.

Smells of leather, expensive shoe store, stable and horses. Hints of sweet ripe cherries, coffee and dark chocolate.
With some air, you can clearly start to smell notes of blood orange.

Delicious in the mouth with great flavour intensity. Notes of coffee, coco powder and some leather.

Silky smooth tannins with a long and pleasant after taste.
Truly a great wine!

FOOD
There are still some tannins left, making it a versatile wine for food pairing.
Try it with lamb og earthy dishes like a mushroom risotto.

Weinert Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 - 229kr

Deep burgundy red colour, with a thin brown edge.
Sweet and nice smell of prune compote, dried fruits, black pepper and oriental spices.
With some air it soon opens up to smells like herbs, black currants and clear notes of sweet camphor.

Intense berry flavours , with black currants and blackberries taking center stage.
Round and huge wine that still have a nice punch of tannins left. This can easily store for another 10 years.
It benefits from some air before drinking.

FOOD
Beef wine deluxe. Entrecôte, stews and barbecue. Will handle spicy dishes very well.
