The Original Greek - 90p

This week we saw the release of many great wines from southern France and Greece at Vinmonopolet. It’s the most diverse wine launch of the year, with many great bottles. Look out for a few favorites from Bandol, Languedoc-Roussillon and Greece. 
We’ve selected a classic from Makedonia and one of the most renowned winemakers; Thymiopulos. His «Earth & Sky» cuvée is his original take on the Xynomavro grape and still stands as his flagship. Grapes are from selected vineyards in Naoussa, from vines ranging from 40-44 years old. Soil is mainly chalk.
The wine is barrel aged for 18 months in 2-4 years old 500 liters barrels. His whole operation is ecological. 
It’s a brilliantly crafted wine, with layers of flavors. Robust and elegant, and showcases the terroir in an excellent way.

Deep warm ruby red.
Aromas of warm spices, sweet plums, ripe red berries, autumn forest and herbs. Some leather dancing in the back.
Large with nice intensity in the mouth. Ripe red berries, plums and herbs. Layered with robust tannins and a long finish.




With food
You can go big on this one. Rich grilled steaks, game meat with sauces or lamb.
