Love You Savoie! - 89p

I fell in love with Savoie two decades ago. This tiny, quite unknown wine region situated shoulder to shoulder with famous big brother Burgundy, has a lot to offer. Most famous for their white wines, and I've selected a favorite for this week. 
Produced by Jean-Pierre Bernard and Chantal Chevallier, they run a family operation since the early 70s. Specially known for their great white wines, Roulette De Savoie, which has been around for hounders of years. In 1432 the Altesse grape variety, which gives the famous Roussette de Savoie, was imported from Cyprus by the Count of Marest, who was just back from the great Crusade. The grape has defined the region and is at its greatest in Savoie.

Light golden color.
Rich aromas of ripe yellow fruits, honey and spices.
Yellow fruits on the pallet, some citrus as well. Lovely and smooth in the mouth, with pleasant acidity and a long spicy aftertaste.
