Comfort wine from a Master – 88p

When December is upon us we need to go to our most comfortable place and sometimes just relax. We find our favourite book, a nice and cosy place to snuggle up in and of course a large glass of wine. For me, my go to producer for quality comfort wine is Luca Roagna! He’s also my go to producer for high end wines but that is for another blog. This week’s red of choice is his Barbera d’Asti.

​The Barbera’s from Asti are often considered more fruity and not as structured as the ones from Alba. So more enjoyable alone, but maybe not as good with food. Luca’s Barbera d’Asti is just high quality that is equally enjoyable alone as with good Italian comfort food. For just over 200,- kroner I challenge you to find a better buy!

Dark, red on the colour. Very deep and lush. Red berries, cherry and forest floor on the nose. In the mouth it is very full bodied with a lot of flavours. Cherry, cherry stone, red berries and mushroom. Very good acidity and minerality makes it very fresh. So, so long as well. A truly enjoyable wine!
