As the rain grips autumn we huddle indoors to keep away from the awful temperatures and windy days. But it’s not all bad news, autumn is also lamb-season! There are so much you can do with lamb so this week we have found a perfect companion hailing from beautiful Tuscany. The Piccini winery began in 1882 with only 7 hectares, in the enchanting scenery of the Chianti Classico, Angiolo Piccini founded a small winery together with his wife Maria Teresa Totti. The couple started the production of Chianti in straw flasks and the next five generations have seen a growth that now includes five niche farms of Italy, and its brand is classified as one of the most distinguished Tuscan brand in the world. This weeks wine is the beautifully named Vino in Musica, made by Fattoria di Valiano. This winery is located in the heart of Chianti Classico production area, in the district of Castelnuovo Berardenga, few steps away from Siena. The soil here is rich in limestone and it’s fragmented so there is great natural drainage. Only the best grapes are selected for the Vino in Musica, that are destemmed and crushed separately. Maceration in stainless steel for 10-15 days during which the wine undergoes fermentation. Before bottling the wine spends 18 months in french oak barrels. Tasting notes:Valiano Vino in Musica Toscana 2010 - 250,- kr Very nice and clean bouquet. Cherry, mushroom and red bell peppers on the nose.Great acidity. The cherry continues in the mouth.
