With the warmth of summer finally arriving we’re longing for some good quality white wine. As most of you probably know, the white wines from Burgundy have a standing as some of the best chardonnay wines in the world and the winemakers know this when they price their wines. So the Burgundy white wines are very often priced at an unreasonably high price. But there is one district in Burgundy that we feel you can get great quality at a very good price - Mâcon! We have recommended several wines from Mâcon before - here and here. This week we are recommending a winemaker we visited in Jura, Domaine Rijckaert. The domaine has now expanded to Mâcon and this wine is a superb representation of the great quality you can get from there. It is still not in all shops of the Vinmonopol, but you can order it to your favorite shop and hopefully it will soon be more readily available. If you can’t find this wine there, then try some of the other Mâcon white’s - we’re sure you won’t be disappointed. Tasting notes:Rijckaert Mâcon La Roche-Vineuse Levant Vieille Vignes - 249,90 kr Superb on the nose with lemon and lime dominating and hints of butter and nuts. Full and round in the mouth with nice weight that fills the mouth. Lemon and lime continues in the mouth and the acidity and minerality gives the wine a very fresh and fruity feeling. A great wine to just enjoy on its own, but will also be great with fried fish and other seafoods.
